Comments: This software is absolutely amazing! I love it .
I have a Pentium 4 Prescott 3.2 @ 4 ghz, 4 GB RAM and an eVGA (nVidia) 8600GT 256MB SSC.
Mediacoder is exceptional for me because of it's XviD and H.264 CUDA and x264 encoders. I love how the decoder's output is piped straight into the encoder, all the other encoders write temporary files to disc, but not this one!
Conversion speed for me altogether with 2 threads is approximately the same as one core of a 2.4 ghz Core 2...
I use this program to encode visually lossless .AVI files encoded from the input from my mini-DV camcorder via firewire down to a mere 1-3 mbps x264 or CUDA H.264 .MP4.
I usually encode my x264 at medium to placebo, at which the slowest setting takes 70 minutes for a 4 minute 720x480 30 fps video, but the way details are kept it's remarkable.
This has made my life so much easier that I might even consider donating for all the time saved.
